Our Aims

1.      Promote, increase, and sustain bus services throughout Somerset

a.      Champion better bus provision to ensure services are reliable, frequent, and meet the needs of communities across the county.

2.      Act as the voice of bus users

a.      Represent the concerns and experiences of passengers to councils, operators, and government bodies.

3.      Support and strengthen local Bus User Groups and Bus Champions

a.      Empower communities to raise issues, shape services, and collaborate on local improvements.

b.      Wells Bus User Group, for example, is an active part of Somerset Bus Partnership, supporting passengers locally.

4.      Improve access to public transport information

a.      Help ensure passengers have clear, timely, and accurate information about bus services.

5.      Engage with the public, councils, and operators

a.      Facilitate open communication and partnerships that lead to meaningful improvements.

6.      Support climate and environmental goals

a.      Encourage bus use as a greener alternative and contribute to Somerset’s net-zero ambitions.

7.      Promote social inclusion and reduce isolation

a.      Work to ensure everyone, including older people, young people, and those in rural areas, can access affordable and reliable transport.

8.      Encourage a modal shift from private cars to buses

a.      Support more sustainable travel habits to reduce congestion, lower emissions, and improve air quality.

9.      Improve integration between bus and rail services

a.      Advocate for better connections, coordinated timetables, and seamless travel across transport modes.
